The Appeal of Japanese Agar Jelly

The Appeal of Japanese Agar Jelly

  1. Introduction
At the “Japanese Food” Export EXPO held in November, we opened a booth and introduced “agar jelly” made with Japanese ingredients. In this issue, we will explain the appeal and potential of agar jelly

2.What is agar jelly?

Kanten (agar), which has long been loved as a health food in Japan, is a healthy ingredient made from naturally occurring seaweed. Agar agar is low in calories and contains virtually no sugar or fat. It is rich in dietary fiber, which helps to improve bowel movements and intestinal environment.

3. “Agar jelly” with a wide variety

Kanten jelly” is a product that takes advantage of the characteristics of agar and transforms it into a snack or dessert. This jelly is very popular for its refreshing, not-too-sweet flavor and firm texture, and many people tasted it at the exhibition. At our booth, we mainly offered the following flavors

4. Response from overseas visitors

At this year's EXPO, many overseas buyers showed interest in agar jelly. In particular, the low calorie content and the fact that it makes use of naturally occurring ingredients were highly evaluated. There were also many questions about matcha (green tea) and yuzu (citron), which are tastes unique to Japan, and we felt that these flavors have the potential to become pillars of future export products.

5. Conclusion

Kanten Jelly” is a product that maximizes the appeal of agar, the pride of Japan. We are confident that its low-calorie, healthy characteristics and wide variety of flavors will be enjoyed by many people. Based on the great response we received at the EXPO, we will continue to promote Japanese food culture to the world through agar jelly.

We hope that everyone will try this wonderful agar jelly!
